Augments
摘要
Revision for acetabular defects can be challenging; however, the use of acetabular augments has been instrumental in creating a repeatable approach to a stable construct. Augments can change an eccentric defect without supportive surrounding bone into a concentric supportive structure for the final acetabular shell. In addition, acetabular augments can help preserve host bone and maintain the native center of rotation, which is often compromised with the use of other techniques such as jumbo cups. With this chapter, we will cover the indications to use acetabular augments and review the different augmentation options available along with their metallurgy. After this, we will discuss the proper surgical planning, goals of the revision, and an algorithmic approach to the surgical technique along with a few surgical pearls.
