Patient care is the essence of why most of us entered medicine, with the minority of healthcare and health science professionals seeking to do research as their major focus. CEs provide the majority of patient care in academic settings, as both generalists and subspecialists. We utilize patient care as the nidus for teaching others how to communicate, ensuring trainees perform thorough and accurate Hx and PEs, arrive at appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans, and model for them ideal ways to take care of patients.
