Bahrain’s Social Housing Management Issues: Transdisciplinary Approach to Their Solution
摘要
The Kingdom of Bahrain faces several challenges with social housing, attributed to rapid urbanization and several economic concerns. Despite continuous progress and successes in affordable housing management measures for low- and middle-income households, prolonged waitlists and a robust high-end market continues to be needed. This paper examines the fundamental reasons behind Bahrain’s social housing dilemma and proposes a resolution strategy that integrates urban design, architectural sociology, economics, and environmental initiatives. This study proposes a neutral measuring interface to assess the challenges facing social housing in Bahrain. We concluded that adopting a transdisciplinary approach is a viable solution. Assistance in the development and implementation of housing programs in Bahrain is required. Following this approach will be a significant step forward. In our analogy, we showcase how this can be adopted as a philosophy to capture all the needs and requirements demanded for successful housing programs. This paper aims to propose a transdisciplinary approach to managing social housing issues to help solve the challenges facing decision-makers on the example of the case study of Bahrain.
