The rapid advancement of digital technology has reshaped the global business landscape, making innovation and entrepreneurship pivotal for economic growth. This study explores the evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem within Bahrain, a nation known for its dynamic digital transformation. The research focuses on how entrepreneurs and businesses are leveraging new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), to drive innovation. The study results reveal increased national investments in ecosystem-building initiatives like funding schemes, incubators, and related infrastructure over 2014–2022, validating government's strategic priority towards nurturing impactful innovation and vibrant entrepreneurship. However, productivity outcomes have not matched policy aspirations around catalyzing technology absorption and high-growth startups across industry sectors. Empirical analysis confirmed critical gaps in linking research with commercialization, fostering university-business partnerships, providing risk capital and specialized scaleup support. Binding constraints relate to acute capital shortages, risk-averse cultural attitudes and bureaucratic hurdles. Technological integration though higher in startups has not translated into wider innovation diffusion across the industrial base. Unfavorable environmental conditions also continue dampening youth entrepreneurial drive.
