Intelligent System Associated with a Stochastic RoRo Shipping Problem for a Fleet of Differentiated Vehicles and Collection of Specific Problems
摘要
This research presents the optimization of the vehicle loading process on Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) ships through the implementation of a heuristic method. Efficiency in the distribution of vehicles within a Ro-Ro vessel is crucial to maximize cargo capacity and reduce operation times, factors that directly impact the costs and competitiveness of maritime transport companies. A mathematical model and its corresponding implementation in Python were developed, with the aim of improving the allocation of spaces for different types of vehicles, taking into account the physical restrictions of the ship and the characteristics of each vehicle. The proposed model was validated using real data, demonstrating a significant improvement in charging efficiency compared to traditional methods. The results obtained indicate that the application of heuristic techniques in the loading planning of Ro-Ro vessels can offer optimal solutions in reduced processing times, which translates into a more efficient and profitable operation. This work contributes to the field of logistics and maritime transport, providing a practical tool for decision-making in cargo management on Ro-Ro ships.
