This chapter explores how Animal Farm (1945) and Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949) as global texts from the Cold War period are locally received in Thailand and have become part of the country’s political discourse. The study of their reception, from both historical and contemporary perspectives, allows us to glimpse the extent to which literature takes part in the formation of Thai public’s collective sentiments as well as rendering speakable certain ideas and beliefs, especially during this time of polarizing political division.

摘要
