Yardangs, which are raised areas of cohesive or indurated sediments that remain after the surrounding erodible materials have been lost to wind erosion, are typical aeolian erosional landforms. The aeolian erosional landforms of various scales that are commonly found on Earth include ventifacts, blowouts, yardangs, wind-eroded depressions, and deflation pavements. Compared with aeolian depositional landforms (i.e., dunes), aeolian erosional landforms have been inadequately studied, and yardangs and ventifacts have captured the most attention.
