We reexamine and compare the dynamics of large, multi-stream Rate Distortion Control systems with single-stream examples, finding significant differences in possible patterns of phase change and Yerkes-Dodson response under stress or other selection pressures. This analysis suggests the further possibility of constructing intermediate scale or generalized models, typically, however, more mathematically demanding than either limit. In all cases, however, a ‘network degradation’ model of aging emerges directly.

摘要

We reexamine and compare the dynamics of large, multi-stream Rate Distortion Control systems with single-stream examples, finding significant differences in possible patterns of phase change and Yerkes-Dodson response under stress or other selection pressures. This analysis suggests the further possibility of constructing intermediate scale or generalized models, typically, however, more mathematically demanding than either limit. In all cases, however, a ‘network degradation’ model of aging emerges directly.
