This chapter examines the notion of elder abuse in relation to sexual violence. An analysis of the intersection between age and sexual violence has implications for nursing professions across Western societies and makes connections across policy, practice and theory. While there are many studies on ageing, we suggest that sexual violence, as a facet of ageing and vulnerability, is not only overlooked in practice but also is relatively marginalised in mainstream criminology and feminism in particular. Elder abuse can take many forms, and therefore, an attempt to define it is precarious. They claim that eight forms of elder abuse include physical, chronic verbal aggression, emotional, sexual, deprivation of help needed in daily living, deprivation of or excess administration of medication, forced isolation and financial abuse. These broad conceptualisations are situated in a wide but complex context.
