Evaluation, a Game-Changer for Development

This chapter depicts development evaluation as a theory of social practices, basically based on valuesvalue and powerpower. It aspires to some impartial building of new knowledge but sometimes with a transformative assumption as well. The community of practicescommunity of practices and the more complex triangular interaction between the evaluatorevaluator, the commissioner and the assesses also participate in the construction of an identity as an industry and the assignment of dedicated roles accordingly, in particular as far as development brokeringbrokering is concerned.
