The inversion results obtained from deterministic methods are not unique and they often do not provide uncertainty estimations. Noise and limited offset coverage in seismic data are the main contributors to uncertainty in these estimates. Bayesian inversion and the inversion methods based on the Bayesian formalism, and geostatistical inversion (GI), provide uncertainty estimates for the inverted rock and/or reservoir parameters based on prior knowledge.

摘要

The inversion results obtained from deterministic methods are not unique and they often do not provide uncertainty estimations. Noise and limited offset coverage in seismic data are the main contributors to uncertainty in these estimates. Bayesian inversion and the inversion methods based on the Bayesian formalism, and geostatistical inversion (GI), provide uncertainty estimates for the inverted rock and/or reservoir parameters based on prior knowledge.
