This chapter provides the reader with an orientation to the chapters to come. Focusing on the changes in sport over the past decade, we open an approach to thinking about advancing gender equity beyond linearity. Grappling with the contradictions inherent in sport, we argue that there is a need to understand the affective dimensions of power in sport organizations and what these ‘do’ to support belonging (and ‘success’). There is so much we don’t know about women’s involvement in sport, particularly contact sport. Drawing on Deleuzian and Baradian concepts and tools for thinking about change and subjectivities, we ask, how might a feminist future for sport unfold and what it might look (and feel) like tomorrow, next year and in the next decade. Focusing on key moments of celebration, tension and growth, we trace points of contention and complexity to better understand the gendered dynamics of change. This book is our attempt to loosen the fixed positioning of gender within sport organizations and notice how this might support a feminist future in sport.

摘要
