Prevention of Fragile Ageing and the Importance of Healthy Ageing for Sustainable Life
摘要
The world population is rapidly aging. The elderly population is expected to double compared to 2015 and reach 2.1 billion in 2050 (World Health Organization (WHO). Decade of healthy ageing WHO Library Cataloguing-in-Publication Data, 2022). The increase in the elderly population causes problems in health, environment, economy and social dimensions. The health sector and economic dimensions are at the forefront of these problems. The most important health problem and economic burden in the elderly is frailty. Frailty of old age emerges with aging and its prevalence in society increases. Frailty of old age increases the mortality rate of the elderly and prevents healthy aging. To prevent frailty, social and individual supports such as environmental regulations and access to health facilities are needed for the elderly. Preventing frailty of old age, ensuring healthy aging and sustainable living are seen as problems that states must urgently solve in economic and social dimensions. In this study, the literature on the frailty of old age, healthy aging and sustainable living is reviewed and the requirements for sustainable living are emphasized.
