The site for the project shall be selected after the study of seismic data to check if the area is earthquake-prone. The construction should be able to withstand a strong earthquake (8 on Richter scale). Consider if the rainfall data and slope of the plot indicate possibility of heavy waterlogging. An actual piece of land (plot) for construction should be selected only after it is found to have required load-bearing capacity. Estimate the total weight of each of the equipment, their accessories, and the wind load on the structure. Quality control system shall be in place for checking the quality of cement, bricks, etc. Special equipment like dewatering pumps, vibrating compactor, dragline excavators (for voluminous work), and tunnel boring machines shall be used as per need.
