Digital Dilemmas: Attending to Art Ownership and Copyright in Youth Online Practices
摘要
Young people use social media to look at and share art online. Online practices like making memes, remixes, and digital collage privilege recombining existing elements in a new way, creating their own unique aesthetics and protocols which enhance digital artistic culture. However, this leads to questions regarding ownership, copyright, and the security of sharing artwork online. These issues are a concern not only to educators but also to youth engaged in sharing art online. Participants who were interviewed expressed concerns regarding how to navigate copyright and protect the ownership of their works within the digital landscape. In this chapter, the author will present current practices and concerns, as well as proposes recommendations for how educators can introduce issues like copyright in their classrooms.
