The internet has provided neurodivergent individuals with spaces to connect, share experiences, and build communities shaped by their own perspectives. Drawing on the experiences of two neurodivergent participants, Fox and Charlie, this chapter examines how online communities offered spaces that not only supported neurodivergent ways of knowing and making but were co-constructed and shaped by these perspectives. By attending to the contrasts and comparisons our participants made between their online communities and their experiences in mainstream educational settings, this analysis foregrounds the ableist neuronormative ideals that shape traditional education and obscure the value of neurodivergent ways of knowing and making. Through Fox and Charlie’s experiences, we can better locate these embedded norms within teaching practices, and learn from the ways that learning, making, and collaborating have been enabled within their online communities.
