In this chapter, the author examines a poignant facet of young creators’ artmaking processes: the formation of offline and online identities. Central to this exploration is the intricate manner in which art students navigate their personal and artistic identities informed by both school and extracurricular experiences. Contextualizing this discussion are broader trends and insights from our overarching study. Emphasis is placed on the youth’s perceptions as they navigate learning, creating, and distributing their digital visual content via mobile and social media platforms. It becomes evident that these identity constructs are layered and diverse, influenced by a myriad of personal, professional, and situational vulnerabilities spanning past, present, and prospective self-views. The author subsequently illuminates the challenges faced in identity construction, highlighting the resolutions that assist in refining and shaping these identities.
