Conclusion
摘要
In the final chapter, I start by talking about how my training has informed my research by focusing on the experience of job shadowing for approximately three weeks in three federal prisons, I provide a summary of key findings of the combination of the two ethnographies—i) of correctional training, ii) of job shadowing—and make recommendations for future research, policy, and training practices. I also question the questions we ask as researchers studying prisons and carceral spaces with a call for more balance. I conclude with a brief (not comprehensive) update to how the program has been modified since 2019, the year of the ethnographic study (e.g., firearms simulators, new modules on cultural competencies), and give my final reflections.
