In the current chapter, I explain my method for the ethnographic study. Specifically, I speak to the ethnographic position I held, my methods, and I describe the challenges tied to starting an immersive ethnography midcareer while unpacking the central ethical dilemmas shaping data collection and the writing of this book. I focus here on the complexities across relationships that emerge in doing ethnographies in an organization with a hierarchical structure, specifically the role conflict between being a researcher (e.g., working in partnership with Correctional Services Canada) and participant (e.g., doing the training). I conclude by touching on the experiences and meanings underpinning working in partnership with a correctional service in Canada.
