Inequality and Discrimination in the Digital Age: Conclusions
摘要
There is no doubt that the lack of access to technology creates inequalities in many areas of human activity, but also in whole societies, such as education, medical care, access to public services, public life, participation in democratic procedures, seeking employment or career development, access to information and services, conducting business. Technical or financial barriers to web access are no longer a significant problem in most areas. The authors of the various chapters in this book have focused on multiple aspects of the digital divide, not only on the issue of lack of physical access to the internet but also on the sociological and economic aspects of this phenomenon. Digital rights should undoubtedly be included in the catalogue of human rights.
