Analyzing Artificial Intelligence in the Tourism Sector: A Bibliometric Study of the Past Decade

Artificial Intelligence is among the main technologies favored by researchers across different sectors, being as the research topic in focus or as supporting tool, at the same time is also a topic of interest and source of curiosity both for corporations and organizations as well to the common user, over the last years, this general interest has only increased with the technological evolution and investment. The Tourism sector, including hospitality, museums, or travel companies, among others, see this technology primarily as a means to solve current problems that surpass the capacity of humans, which are more prompt to error, such as forecasting. This paper is the result of a bibliometric analysis over 1045 journal articles selected across the databases Web of Science and Scopus, by presenting an overview of the R&D in the last ten years surrounding the research and use of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector, it contributes to future research, as well interested actors, through the detection of patterns, principal sources, and contributors for this topic of research.
