We consider a version of the z-model of microtubules. In this version, we assume the possibility for larger oscillations of the molecules which form the protofilaments of the tubule. The balance of the forces leads us to a nonlinear model differential equation. This equation is solved by means of version SEsM(1,1) of the Simple Equations Method. We consider waves obtained by means of the use the equation of Bernoulli as a simple equation. We discuss the dependence of the velocity of the waves on the parameters of the microtubule and its environment.
