While the other chapters in this book have focused on particular use cases, problem domains, and families of methods, this chapter instead focuses on how these various subfields of game AI relate to each other. What is the relation of player modeling to procedural content generation, and how is game adaptation informed by research into game-playing agents and human-like behavior? We try to map this web of interconnections, and suggest areas for further exploration. The chapter also contains alternative perspectives on the field, drawing on the perspectives of method, end-users, and player-game interaction.

摘要

While the other chapters in this book have focused on particular use cases, problem domains, and families of methods, this chapter instead focuses on how these various subfields of game AI relate to each other. What is the relation of player modeling to procedural content generation, and how is game adaptation informed by research into game-playing agents and human-like behavior? We try to map this web of interconnections, and suggest areas for further exploration. The chapter also contains alternative perspectives on the field, drawing on the perspectives of method, end-users, and player-game interaction.
