The research aims to analyze the opportunities and threats associated with using artificial intelligence (AI) in socio-political communications. The research employed systemic and structural–functional approaches, analysis, synthesis, comparative analysis, content analysis, and other quantitative and qualitative methods. Advanced technologies provide individuals with virtually unrestricted access to any information and the ability to share their opinions with an unlimited number of people, thus fostering freedom of speech. Searching for and exchanging information on socio-political issues are crucial to political participation and civic engagement. Alongside other entities, AI becomes an actor in socio-political communication, capable of spreading ideas and influencing the public agenda through content generation and communicative acts. This includes the use of populist, demagogic, and manipulative tactics and other practices. AI is now being integrated into all areas of production and public life, significantly reducing the time required for routine mechanical processes and tasks that demand creative solutions. However, the danger lies in the potential use of AI to shape public sentiments, spread extremist ideas, and mobilize large groups of people to organize social protests and unrest. Despite its potential for democratization and dialogue, the media space tends to follow the prevailing trend of increased control and a propagandist model of communication between elites and the masses. Ochlocracy may not be interpreted as the “all-powerful” masses controlling the discourse, but rather as a meticulously orchestrated management of the masses by the masses, with AI technologies potentially becoming one of the most effective tools for its realization.

摘要
