Climate neutrality (CN) is a target to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions to zero for combating the worldwide issue of climate change (CC). CC is a term that describes the alterations in climate and weather patterns that are occurring all over the world as because of the global warming of the atmosphere, which is produced by greenhouse gases. The effects of climate change, which include severe temperatures, intense storms, droughts, and floods, are being felt universally over the globe. This chapter makes an attempt to offer a descriptive picture on the basics of CC by reviewing the existing literature. The authors minutely presents the causes and impacts of CC in order bring a clearer perspective on the topic to broaden our knowledge on the same. With the intention of providing readers, who are less familiar with climate change, with an introduction that is not technical in nature, the significance of the 1.5 °C and 2 °C targets is explained, as well as the reasons why the process of controlling climate change must be expedited. An explanation of the potential effects that CC along with a briefing on climate action is given. The strategies for CC mitigation and adaption are also mentioned to enhance the understanding on the topic. Finally, implications are offered for policy as well as practice along with study’s limitations and scope for further research.
