Blockchain technology (BCT) has found its relevance and applicability in many sectors, including law enforcement. The traits such as decentralisation, immutability, and transparency associated with blockchain technology provide an effective method for managing digital evidence. This chapter endeavours to comprehensively examine issues, such as tampering and chain-of-custody issues while also emphasising the advantages of blockchain in preventing fraud and combating cybercrime. It is noteworthy that integrating blockchain technology into the law enforcement wing is not free from challenges. The challenge particularly arises while adhering to data privacy legislations. Thus, this chapter examines and analyses the potential advantages and difficulties of blockchain technology in law enforcement in relation to adhering to data protection laws.
