With changing demand, the expansion of renewable energies, and the growth of transnational European electricity markets, the need to expand existing electricity transmission grids has become a central aspect of German politics and planning in this area. However, the construction of new transmission corridors often clashes with existing notions of normal domestic landscapes and, along with other factors, elicits massive resistance. Against this background the article focuses on negotiation processes around changing electricity landscapes.
