When it comes to the design of apartments and houses, both locations and interior design concepts that have a notion of landscape are very popular. In particular, the conceptual construction of living by the river and in the mountains can be considered societal prototypes that represent the topos of landscape in the living world. Societally, living in the reconstructed landscape can be traced back to changes in the spatial organization of society. For the increased demands on individual mobility, spatial refuges are offered to enable authentic experiences and individually to enable one’s own narrative of biographical continuity. This is reflected in the design principles, especially in the selection of visual perspectives and materials. Living spaces are connected with the imagined landscape in such a way that they establish a viewing regime that allows the inhabitants to communicate with the inside and outside in a self-determined and playful way. Thus, the individual is given a space of individual control in a society determined by others.
