The term ‘CityLandscape’ is ambiguous. Firstly, it describes the connection between ‘city’ and ‘country’ at the level of spatial and community structures, and secondly, hybridizes urbanity and rurality as interpreted lifestyles respectively of urban and rural. Finally, the term landscape indicates that new connections and old separations between city and country always also go hand in hand with specific cultural and historical interpretations of ‘nature’. Therefore, CityLandscapes can be read as a spatialized result of social-ecological transformation processes.
