The topic of ‘landscape’ has always been a concern of cultural geography from an essentialist perspective. Currently, the theme of landscape is particularly in the focus of social constructivism. Since landscapes form the framework for all areas of life, educational institutions feel obliged to deal more closely with the construct ‘landscape’ in all its facets. Landscape considerations are also part of the geography concept in Saarland curricula and high school textbooks, with the current focus being more on the physical-geographical than the cultural-geographical approach.
