3D visualizations of landscapes have been around since the creation of the first block images. In the past, mainly analog (diagrams, relief maps, globes, etc.). The future of 3D visualization of landscapes is digital. Therefore, this article deals with the current terminology, the possibilities, or methods exemplified by a workflow for creating a 3D landscape with freely available software. An explanation of potential challenges (1) for the purposes of 3D visualization of landscapes is provided. Furthermore, it will be explained which software tools are available for this purpose (2), which (geo-)data (3) are needed, and which workflows (4) could lead to success.

摘要
