The terms nature and landscape are closely linked both in everyday life and in professional contexts. Here, landscape represents a specific approach to nature, that is especially spatial and aesthetically coded. This article develops an understanding of landscape as spatial societal relations to nature, critically reflecting on naturalistic and sociocentric reductionisms and questioning the material, symbolic, and normative socialization of ‘nature’ as landscape.
