Geospatial Data Literacy in 3D Landscape Visualization

The ability to competently evaluate and use modern geospatial data resources (Geospatial Data Literacy) is of increasing importance in geoinformation sciences, including geography, cartography, and landscape research. Being able to construct and visualize landscapes in a high level of detail and based on current software solutions poses specific demands on Geospatial Data Literacy. This article aims to present current geospatial data resources and hint at their versatile application possibilities for geographical landscape visualization. Finally, the needs for Geospatial Data Literacy in 3D landscape visualization are derived and discussed against the background of the possibilities and characteristics of these resources.
