The National Direction of Mining and Geology
摘要
The 1940s were very difficult years, with a low budget and limited technical staff, and at times only three geologists working. Numerous geological maps at a scale of 1:200,000 with their corresponding text were produced at the end of the decade through surveys carried out by Horacio Harrington, Félix González Bonorino, Christian Petersen, Raúl Dessanti, César R. Vilela, Enrique De Alba, Oscar Ruiz Huidobro, Juan C. Turner, Guillermo Furque, Eduardo Methol and Rafael González, among others. These geological sheets began to be published along with the arrival of a host of young geologists. This second generation of geologists was mostly graduates of the universities of La Plata and Buenos Aires, such as Oscar Ruiz Huidobro, Juan Carlos M. Turner and Guillermo Furque, Eduardo Methol and Eduardo Holmberg. During their time, they compiled numerous geological maps on a scale of 1:200,000, which marked the beginning of the systematic survey of the country. The creation of the National Direction of Geology and Mining in 1956 gave a new impetus to geological studies under the direction of Roberto Tezón.
