Queer Pilgrims: Ann-Marie MacDonald, Fall On Your Knees (1997)
摘要
This chapter discusses Ann-Marie Macdonald’s family saga Fall On Your Knees and explores the struggles between Catholic and Protestant values and belief systems, a tension that is also reflected in the use of religious rituals and their curative potentials. As most forms of ritual(-isation) in this novel do not correspond to received notions of how they are supposed to be carried out, forms of artistic manipulation, embellishment or creative story-telling transform traditional religious ritual practices in such a way that they can serve therapeutic ends.
