This chapter presents a methodology to combine automated waveform analysis with a modern hardware description language (HDL). By adding small annotations to hardware designs written in the Spade HDL, waveform analysis programs can be generated by the Spade compiler. This allows developers to not only easily analyze their own designs but also enables them to ship their designs to customers with powerful analysis programs. The usage of the presented methodology is showcased on an implementation of theWishbone bus interface and an analysis for finite-state machines (FSMs).
