The use of generative AI in this field can deepen the connection between patients and service providers and provide a personalized treatment experience for each individual. Generative AI can not only enhance patient-doctor interactions but also improve treatment outcomes through more accurate predictions. However, the complexities of human communication and individual differences pose challenges in using generative AI for patient engagement. Many studies in this area have attempted to overcome these challenges and make the necessary optimizations. This chapter examines various methods of using generative AI to increase patient engagement and improve the treatment experience. By utilizing patient data, generative AI can offer personalized recommendations that not only address the patient’s current needs but also contribute to the continuous improvement of their quality of life. This chapter first reviews the various applications of generative AI in the healthcare sector. Then, it provides an overview of the techniques and algorithms used to create better interactions with patients. Finally, after reviewing previous studies, the areas in need of further research are identified, and suggestions for future research are provided. The results of this study can contribute to the further development and advancement of patient engagement with the help of generative AI.
