Developing a Human Health Digital Twin for Cardiovascular Risk Assessment: Simulation Model and Dashboard

This article discusses the development of a prototype digital twin, comprising an initial cybernetic simulation model and a dashboard designed to forecast cardiovascular risk based on an individual's lifestyle and dietary habits. The objective is to provide insights on how lifestyle modifications can mitigate cardiovascular risks. A literature review is conducted to analyze existing models, assessing their functionality and performance in predicting cardiovascular diseases. The equations for the simulation draw from a literature review and expert interviews in the fields of sports, nutrition, and cardiology, focusing on physiological mechanisms. The resulting simulation model is robust and includes a management dashboard tailored for potential patients. It utilizes the equation derived from the validated Framingham Risk Equation, offering a valuable tool for informing individuals about how lifestyle changes can reduce their cardiovascular risk. Future work should consider psychological factors that influence cardiovascular health. Additionally, it is recommended to evaluate the model's applicability in optimizing and controlling fat and glycogen storage and supply in athletic pursuits. Practical application of the model in real consulting scenarios is also advocated. Furthermore, future studies should aim to integrate this model with existing applications or smartwatches to improve personalized predictions and support better decision-making for end-users.
