This chapter covers some aspects of non-photonic metamaterials, extending the frontiers of the domain. Namely, aspects of acoustical and mechanical metamaterials are presented. The aim is to give a broad vision of these fields, but also to describe experiments and realizations. In particular, a detailed analysis of theoretical aspects of mechanical metamaterials is presented.
