In this research, our aim is to examine the impact that the protocols adopted due to the covid-19 pandemic had on the changes in length of stay (LOS) between 2019 (pre-pandemic) and 2020 (during the pandemic) by statistically comparing the hospitalization data from these two years. The descriptive and inferential statistical analysis which had the ward stay time (LOS) as its analysis parameter was carried out using the Jamovi software. The study highlighted how the practices introduced in the hospital department to prevent the spread of the pandemic did not bring any benefit to the department's performance, but also resulted in an increase in LOS of an average of two days in 2020 compared to 2019. The structured and rigorous approach of Lean Six Sigma, adopted through the use of the DMAIC cycle, allows the current state of a process to be critically analyzed, corrective actions to be implemented, and progress to be monitored with a view to continuous improvement based on data analysis and strongly result-oriented. This provides a valuable tool to optimize the clinical emergency path and improve the efficiency of treatment. The limitations of this study are the reduced interest period.
