Atlas of Pre-mesozoic Zircon Provinces in the Central and Western European Variscides and Surrounding Cratons
摘要
The number of zircon age studies being published from all regions of the planet is consistently growing. Unfortunately, a considerable amount of data of this type is often not utilised for future studies after its publication. Consequently, there is a considerable amount of underutilised data that is waiting to be discovered. The aim of this chapter is to create an initial compilation of zircon age data (N = 4673, n = 169,258) that characterises the zircon provinces present prior to, during, and following the formation of the Central and Western European Variscides. These encompass Baltica, the West African Craton, the Eastern Avalonian terrane assemblage, Cadomia, etc., and their successors up to the Mesozoic era. Therefore, this study aims to present an initial pattern of the typical zircon age spectra found in the aforementioned areas.
