The pursuit of sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa is a complex and multifaceted challenge that requires a deep understanding of the interplay between environmental, social, economic, and political factors. This chapter covers a review of related literature on environmental, social, economic, and political sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa. The chapter is further anchored on a case study on sustainable development in Africa in the context of five Sustainable Development Goals, namely education, gender equality, life underwater, life on land, and partnerships. The significance of the case study is drawn in terms of contribution to policy recommendations on sustainable development in the continent. The chapter also provides some highlights on the challenges associated with sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa before drawing conclusions.
