This study addresses the complex water problems in Central Asia, focusing on the geopolitical and territorial dynamics that influence the management of water resources. The shared use of rivers such as the Amu Darya and Syr Darya is prone to lead to regional tensions without sustainable solutions. For years, many studies have been emphasizing that environmental problems such as the drying up of the Aral Sea and climate change are making the situation even more difficult. Using a political geography approach, this study revisits this topic to examine how control over water is translated into power and shapes the social and political framework. It proposes strategies to improve infrastructure, benefit-sharing projects, and regional cooperation to ensure efficient water management, regional stability, and sustainable progress. This study stresses the need for a holistic understanding of the interplay of resources, power dynamics, and territorial aspects to address the challenges of water security in Central Asia.
