Application and Future Prospective of Nanomaterials Towards Nanobionics
摘要
Nanotechnology is an advanced field where invisible molecules are achieving remarkable results. It spans various disciplines, including electronics, agriculture, food science, pharmaceuticals, and medical diagnostics, with many researchers focussed on advancing technology through these innovations. Nanomaterials hold significant potential in agriculture due to their distinctive physicochemical properties. When plants interact with these nanoparticles, they can induce various morphological, physiological, and genotoxic changes. Understanding these interactions is crucial for fully realising nanotechnology’s benefits in agriculture. Often referred to as “magic bullets”, nanoparticles can significantly impact plant growth and photosynthesis. They affect critical growth processes, such as seed germination, root development, and photosynthesis. The emerging field of plant nanobionics involves integrating engineered nanomaterials with plant organelles to enhance plant functions. This chapter explores the diverse applications and future prospects of plant nanobionics in detail.
