Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) plays a vital role in addressing climate change and ensuring food security. It is important to reduce the usage of chemical fertilizers for CSA and sustainable soil management practices. Nano-fertilizers have the potential to transform agriculture by improving nutrient use efficiency, reducing fertilizer application rates, and enhancing crop yields. This patent analysis examined the latest advancements in nano-fertilizer technology as it relates to CSA and sustainable soil management. This study reviewed around 224 patents related to nano-fertilizers from Patentscope (the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)'s database), Scopus Patents, Google Patents, and Lens (a public patent knowledge database). The analysis focused on uncovering emerging innovations, key patent holders, and the geographic distribution of research and development activities. The patent landscape for nano-fertilizers highlights several key areas in agricultural practices: Nutrient delivery systems involve nano-fertilizers that encapsulate nutrients and release them gradually, enhancing nutrient uptake efficiency and minimizing leaching. Nanomaterial-based fertilizers use nanoparticles and nanotubes to boost nutrient bioavailability and improve their interaction with soil and plants. In precision agriculture, nano-fertilizers enable site-specific nutrient management and optimize fertilizer usage. They also play a role in soil remediation by aiding in the cleanup of contaminated soils and improving soil health. Additionally, nano-fertilizers foster beneficial plant-microbe interactions, promoting plant growth and nutrient acquisition. This patent analysis will provide valuable insights into not only the current state of innovation in nano-fertilizer technology for agriculture but also identify emerging trends and technologies. It also dealt into potential opportunities for commercialization and shone a torchlight toward areas where further research and development are needed. In conclusion, nano-fertilizers offer significant promise for addressing the challenges of climate change and achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). By fostering collaboration between scientists, policymakers, and farmers, we can create a future where nano-fertilizers play a vital role in achieving a more sustainable and resilient agricultural system.

摘要
