In other words, building skills in the decision process is key to becoming a responsible citizen or leader. Different goals or value demands (claim making) are expected in problem-solving groups in a democratic society. In these circumstances, there is no shortage of opportunities for you to help decision-make a sound process. As we lay out in this book, the decision process provides a stable frame of reference to organize and understand the interconnected activities of decision-making and draw attention to opportunities to make them more functional. The decision process can help you create or assess different decision-making processes, no matter how complex or seemingly chaotic.
