Among Patricia Shehan Campbell’s myriad contributions to the field of music education, two stand out as among the most important: first, her continual and tireless efforts to bring the voices of children into music education; second, her emphasis on incorporating global musics into the curriculum, an effort which ultimately culminated in the pedagogical approach of World Music Pedagogy (WMP). This chapter describes her principal publications and presentations in these areas, including her prolific collection of research articles, her seminal text co-authored with Carol Scott-Kassner, Music in Childhood: From Preschool through the Elementary Grades, and the body of work that culminated in World Music Pedagogy. After describing Campbell’s principal contributions in these areas, this chapter extends the discussion, considering contemporary issues scholars have raised regarding WMP, particularly as it relates to the elementary school setting. The chapter ends with a Brief Response by Carol Scott-Kassner.

摘要
