Influence of the Addition Amount of Bamboo Fiber and Polypropylene Fiber on Concrete Performance

This study explores the incorporation of polypropylene and bamboo fibers into concrete and examines their effects on its compressive and tensile properties. The results show that adding an appropriate amount of bamboo fiber and polypropylene fiber can effectively improve the compressive and tensile strength of concrete. Specifically, adding 0.5% bamboo fiber and 0.6% polypropylene fiber to the concrete mixture results in a 4.16% reduction in workability, a 5.09% increase in compressive strength, and a 33.75% increase in tensile strength compared to the control sample. However, further increasing the fiber content to 0.6% for both bamboo and polypropylene fibers leads to fiber aggregation and entanglement, which adversely affects the slump, compressive strength, and tensile strength of the concrete. Thus, for practical applications, it is crucial to optimize the fiber content to achieve the desired improvements in concrete properties.
