The Present Advances in Research for Potato Production: Future Trends and Goals
摘要
An overview of recently developed technological options for raising crop yields and enhancing yield stability in the production of potatoes is given in this chapter. The detailed discussion of biotic and abiotic restrictions under the present climate change scenario on crop production includes technology like seed plot techniques for controlling viral disease to address these constraints. This chapter provides a thorough rundown of the technology available for producing potatoes. It covers the various technologies and tactics aimed at yield enhancement, yield stabilisation, and quality enrichment, with a focus on improved varieties. Scientists working on potato crops are addressing these challenges by developing advanced technologies such as genome sequencing, high-tech seed production methods like aeroponics and ARC, integrated disease and pest management, optimized plant nutrition and water management, and the use of information technology for monitoring soil health. Additionally, they are advancing other innovative research and development technologies to improve potato production.
