Locating parking spaces for vehicles in ever-increasing congested traffic is a major problem faced in many cities. The rider has to drive the extra distance to locate a proper parking space, resulting in extra time consumption and incurring additional expenses for extra mileage, and also affecting pollution control. We proposed an Intelligent Parking System (IPS) using Internet of Things (IoT) technology and mobile application services, to mitigate the impact of these problems on the riders, promoting smart city features. This IPS assists the riders in locating the parking slots in less time, resulting in efficient parking space usage, reducing vehicular traffic congestion, and minimizing pollution.
